Emily de Sa


 

Emily Swope de Sa grew up in a musical family in southern New Hampshire. She moved to Vienna, Austria in high school where she attended the Musikgymnasium Wien, performed in the award-winning Kammerchor MGW, and co-founded the all women’s choir AlMezSo. She returned to the United States for her Bachelor’s degree in piano at Ave Maria University, where she discovered her love for classical voice. In 2016 she won first place in the Marilyn van Sickle Vocalist Competition of Southwest Florida. After completing her degree, she spent a year in New Hampshire as a private voice and piano teacher, cantor, and Assistant Music Director at Northeast Catholic College.

In 2017 she received a full scholarship to attend the University of Notre Dame for a Masters in Vocal Performance and Sacred Music. Since then, she has performed internationally as a soloist and ensemble singer, including Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, St. Ludwigskirche in Berlin, and the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli University in Tblisi, Republic of Georgia. Upon completing her Masters degree, she received the award for Best Vocalist in her program at the University of Notre Dame. Emily is currently the Music and Scripture teacher at St. Jerome’s Academy in Hyattsville and the Music Director at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Landover Hills, MD. She and her husband, classical oil painter Andrew de Sa, live in Hyattsville, MD where they jointly run a music and arts studio, Studio de Sa
